Ahhh...to have been there in the Théatre des Champs-Elysées, the night of the opening... But also have been there at another performance, just to watch divine Vaclav Nijinsky's choreography and listen to the music...

Nowadays, the Sacre seems to have been reduced to a battle between the sexes, a game of domination and even rapist cruelty, going from Bausch to Preljocaj.

To quote Stravinsky: "I saw in my imagination a solemn pagan rite. Sage elders, seated in a circle, watched a young girl dance herself to death. They were sacrificing her to propitiate the God of Spring. I heard and I wrote what I heard. I am the vessel through which Le sacre passed."
This has nothing to do with what some choreographers make from it.
But when Siegried can pass as a serial killer, everything is permitted for the gory glory of the director's or choreographer's reputation.
