resinous oil on panel
1988 - 180 x 250 mm

This one has only been added because it has documentary value. I do not consider it a finished work of art, hence the title. It has never been finished because at least two more layers should be added. But I did add it here because it shows the progress I made with painting, in fact: with the quest into the mixing of resins, oils and other ingredients. I had fully grasped that the only reason one should use oils is because of their translucency; that the best way to cope with a problem is to cut it up is sequences or phases, hence the monochrome shadowing and the colour being added later-on; that nothing compares to a white panel; and finally that there is no such thing as 'a' Flemish technique.
